NewsBin ships with a default list of popular binaries groups. Not all servers will carry these groups, and it is a small subset of all available groups, so it is recommended that you download the true groups list that your server supports.
Steps to do this:
- Click the "Add Groups..." button on the toolbar. If you are using the "Big Toolbar" which can be enabled under the View menu, it will be the "Edit Subscribed Groups" button which is the last button on the right.
- Click the "Update" button or the "Update Groups From Server" button if you are using the Big Toolbar.
- Wait for Group Download to complete. You can tell by watching the progress in the Download Tab or your current datarate reading at the bottom of the program.
The resulting list shows all the newsgroups available to you, taken from all the servers you have configured in NewsBin. The Post Count is a snapshot of how many posts were in the group when you downloaded the list. This can be used as a guide to determine how popular each group is.
